Never lose the story of how you built it.

Capture the decisions as you build — then generate a portfolio case study and on-brand landing page from your real history.

v1.3.0 · Released June 26, 2026 · Cursor · Claude · Codex plugin

The problem

Your build story is scattered — and stuck where your tools can't reuse it

The decisions, trade-offs, and turning points behind your work live across chats, commits, and memory — not in one place that travels with the project or that your other tools can pick up.

The reasoning behind your best decisions is spread across transcripts, tickets, and commit messages.

That context sits in a tool or an account — it doesn't move with the project folder itself.

When it's time to market what you built, none of it is in a form your other tools can reuse.

Features

Capture the essence — not the bloat

Committed build narrative

A curated, committed record of your context, decisions, and story — kept in your project folder and git history, so it travels with the project across tools and machines.

Decisions, grounded in commits

Capture tradeoffs, risks, and the human why as you build, tied to real git commits — never generic filler.

Three rubrics, bundled in

Writing, Visual, and Design-System rubrics come free alongside it. You set your project's bar once, and every output is graded against it before you see it.

Case study + landing page

Generate a portfolio case study and an on-brand landing section from your captured history, in one command.

Local-only, no API keys

Runs entirely on your machine. Your code and your story never leave your computer.

On your brand

Outputs use your brand tokens and voice, so every asset reads like the same product.

How to use

Install, set your standard, then build

Install

Download case-study-maker.zip from your Case Study Maker page and unzip it into your project as a folder named .case-study-maker, then run the initializer (Cursor, Claude, or Codex). Then download and unzip the three free rubrics — writing, visual, and design-system — into the same project folder; they calibrate every output to your standard. In Terminal, opened in your project folder, paste the commands below and press Enter — the last line runs the initializer that sets everything up.

unzip case-study-maker.zip -d .case-study-maker bash .case-study-maker/csm-init.sh unzip writing-rubric.zip -d writing-rubric unzip visual-rubric.zip -d visual-rubric unzip design-system-rubric.zip -d design-system-rubric

Activate

Open your project in your AI tool and activate it. It creates your committed build store and reads your git history.

/activate (or say “activate case study maker”)

Set your standard

Run establish-standards. The bundled Writing, Visual, and Design-System rubrics learn your voice and your example of “great,” so every output is held to your bar.

/establish-standards

Capture & generate

Capture decisions as you build, then generate your case study and landing page — checked against your standard. Every command is listed in the README included in your download.

/capture · /generate

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does my code leave my machine?

No. Case Study Maker is local-only and needs no API keys. Your code and your build story stay on your computer.

What does Free include?

Up to 5 projects, fully: capture, the committed narrative store, all three rubrics with establish-standards, and generating a case study + landing page.

What do I get with Pro?

The same features as Free — the only difference is unlimited projects instead of 5. Pro is $29.99/year, cancel anytime, no refunds.

Which tools does it work in?

Cursor, Claude (Desktop, Cowork, VS Code), and Codex — any AI agent that reads AGENTS.md.

Will the build story bloat my context?

No. Only a small index loads by default; the full narrative is read only when you generate. It captures the essence, not the transcript.

Is there support, and can I try it first?

It's self-serve: the README and the docs included in your download cover install, every command, and troubleshooting. And you get 5 full projects free, so you can decide whether it's useful before upgrading to Pro.

The Maker pipeline

One pipeline from build to launch

Each Maker module is an AI harness: a fixed expert method your AI tool executes against your project's real evidence — so every step of the pipeline (capture → case study → demo → launch → post → website) ships consistent, graded output instead of generic AI copy.

Your build, remembered.

Capture the story as you go — kept in your project folder so it travels with the work, and so Demo Maker, Git Launcher, and Post Maker can turn it into launch assets.
